Mom’s starting a business. The most important advice ever.
Mom’s starting a business run the risk of getting lost in their business and actually never seeing their families. Mom’s starting a business is not uncommon, especially after having their first child. They want to start a business so that they can have more time with their children, that is great. But I have to warn you, it does not always happen as planned. There is ONE THING you have to do if you want to have a business and still see your family. This applies to fathers starting a business too.
Step 1: Get clear
Most mom’s starting a business generally have a vague idea of “I want to see my children grow up”. That is great but that is not enough. What does that mean? Does it mean only having to work from when you drop them at school until the time you pick them up from school? Or is it still working a full day but having the flexibility to go to school events, being there at home when they are sick or having enough money to take them on great holidays and weekends away?
Get clear on what it means to you. Most mom’s starting a business have a vague idea and then they DO see their children grow up but from behind the desk in their home office never really getting TIME to spend with them.
Step 2: Design and execute
In the above example, I used to different scenarios. One is half day business and the other is a full day with flexibility. Those are two completely different business models and you need to be aware of that. This impact the complete design and running of the business as well as the size of your teams helping you run this business.
Mom’s starting a business will find it easier and less stressful to build this business when they follow this recipe. You will also have a higher chance of success in your life and your business.
